 CCLA Server Tournaments

Our traditional rules and ratings combined with
I.C.C.F.'s powerful internet chess server!

Rules

All CCLA server tournaments use a time limit of 10 moves in 40 days. Internet access and a valid email address are required. If you have never played chess using a webserver, CCLA is an excellent place to start, as you will be given step-by-step instructions and all questions will be answered. Note: continuous membership in CCLA is required by our ByLaws, or all games, prizes and advancements will be forfeited.

SERVER SERIES

The Server Series events have an entry fee of $6. There are no prizes. If you have never played using a server, this is an excellent place to start. Please include your email address and ICCF ID number if any.

The Winter Server Series has an entry deadline of January 15, and the Summer Server Series has a July 15 deadline. These are semi-class events with entrants grouped according to their ratings, with 5-7 players in each section, one game per opponent. Multiple entries permitted.

The Continuous Server Series is for players rated below 1800, and the Open Server Series is for players rated 1600 and over. Entries are open all year, and five-player sections with one game per opponent are formed as soon as we have five entrants.

CCLA NORTH AMERICAN SERVER CLASS CHAMPIONSHIPS

This is a two-round annual event usually with five rating groups: Master/Expert, A, B, C and D; classes C and D may be combined depending on the number of entries. Each winner of a Round 1 section, and all players scoring 75% or better, advances to the final round of their class. Winners of each class receive a $20 prize and the title of CCLA North American Server Class Champion. Entry fee is $8. Entry deadline is April 15.

CCLA SERVER TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

The number of divisions, teams and games played per opponent is strictly a function of the entries. Teams are assigned to divisions based on the average team rating of their six players. Each player plays one or two games against opponents on his board (Board 1 plays all other Board 1 players, etc.) Entry fee is $8; deadline for rosters is October 15 in odd-numbered years. There are 22 teams competing in 4 divisions in the 2009-2011 Server Team Championship.
